At the beginning of September this year, I went out with some friends of mine to a party. We were all happy to find each other after the Summertime to tell each other our stories and to have a good time amongst friends.
On that note, the party started, the place started to fill up with people, the music was getting louder an alcohol starting appearing here and there on the tables…We drunk the first glass and cheered to it and then I continued to drink without really realising as seen as more we drink, more we think we should have some more and less it will effect us. You just have to stop at the right time.
Around two o clock in the morning, I remember talking with a friend and from then all I can remember is falling on the floor and I can’t remember past that. Or anything that happened. My friends called the ambulance who took me straight to hospital. I woke up after a 35hr coma in a hospital room with drips over my body. At that moment I didn’t realize until the doctor told me I had arrived in an ambulance with 2g/l of alcohol in my blood, but a few hours later once I got my spirits up, I understood that I had been to far and that I didn’t really know how to control myself that well. In the happiness of seeing my friends before the party, I forgot to eat, the effects of alcohol on an empty system with no food in it is fatal. In France, alcohol abuse kills between 40 000 to 50 000 people each year, that makes up about 10% of all death causes.
That day I took a slap that allowed me to become aware of the dangers of daily life, I wish this to no one; it really is a life lesson.
